High school students from Nis High School “Svetozar Markovic” and Medical School, last weekend in Etropole had the opportunity to attend ecology workshops organized by NIIT from Nis and YMDRAB from Botevgrad.
In addition to the opportunity to learn about ecosystems, protected species, negative human impact on forests, the Suva Planina, students also had presentations of Niš and their schools.
At a time when climate change is having very big impact on human life on Earth, 25 students from Niš had the opportunity to meet their peers from Bulgaria and learn through this non-formal education about this important topic.
In addition to informal learning, the participants had the opportunity to visit the Monastery in Etropole and get acquainted with the natural beauty in which it is located. After a three-day training course, all participants received certificates and became „allies in preserving the planet“.
This training course was organized as part of the EU Cross-Border Co-operation Project, which partners with NIIT Center, YMDRAB from Botevgrad, and the Sofia Forest Institute.
The project is co-funded by EU through the Interreg-IPA CBC Bulgaria–Serbia Programme.
